Job Overview
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations, including donor eligibility, adverse event management, laboratory result review, and donor notifications.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions; follow SOPs for medical emergencies, develop Center Physician's standing orders, and arrange donor transport to emergency care centers.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility concerns.
- Support employee hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate evaluation by occupational health/ER; follow EHS guidance for incidents.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to community pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate-equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- State requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of the FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Hourly Wage Range: $40.48 – $55.66 (subject to qualifications, experience, and location)
