EHS Technician
Location:
Pomona, CA, 91767
Duration: 12 Months of Contract + possible extension
Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM/ Mon - Fri
Position SummaryThe Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Technician supports the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene programs. This role helps ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements while promoting a safe workplace through training, inspections, audits, incident investigations, and environmental initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with accident and incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene records and documentation.
- Support the plant Safety Committee and EHS programs.
- Prepare EHS training materials and presentations.
- Stay current on environmental, health, and safety regulations and recommend policy updates.
- Conduct routine EHS inspections, audits, and facility walkthroughs.
- Identify safety hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Review new equipment installations and process modifications for EHS compliance.
- Maintain and inspect the plant fire protection system.
- Update and maintain the EHS database.
- Assist with hazardous waste management, including storage, pickups, disposal, and shipment preparation.
- Deliver EHS training, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and environmental compliance training.
- Monitor contractor compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports accurately and on time.
- Support environmental projects and sustainability initiatives.
- Assist with plant recycling and waste reduction programs.
- Help maintain compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend workplace improvements.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to reduce workplace accidents, injuries, and property damage.
- Promote a safe work environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and vendors.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–3 years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) or a related field.
- Experience with manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
- Fire Department or Rescue Squad experience is a plus for safety-focused positions.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
- Basic math and algebra skills.
