SUMMARYThe Metropolitan Water District’s Water Quality Section is seeking one (1) Co‑Op intern to join the Laboratory Support Team. This position requires a commitment of approximately 12–20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Work should preferably be scheduled in blocks of at least four hours. During summer months, work times may be increased up to 40 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Sample and bottle preparation
- Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data entry and recordkeeping
- Routine laboratory quality control activities
- General laboratory cleanliness and organization
- Must be a current sophomore or junior with approximately two years remaining before graduation.
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited four‑year degree program in Chemistry, Biology, or other related science major.
- Must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 in relevant coursework (chemistry, mathematics, physics, etc.).
- Experience in sorting and packing specially preserved bottles in the laboratory
- Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
- Experience using computer software in a Microsoft Windows environment
- Knowledge of general laboratory calculations
- Self‑motivated team player able to work effectively with minimal supervision
