Project Manager, Heavy Civil Division

As a Project Manager we will support the VSL Florida Heavy Civil team based in Pompano Beach, FL, and our work throughout the Southeast region. This role involves managing complex and specialty civil construction projects.

• Demonstrate a dedication to safety and quality control on all aspects of project management while providing leadership expectations to field teams.
• Plan and execute self‑performed complex civil and commercial construction projects such as bridge inspection and repair, post‑tensioning installation and repair, and structural strengthening on new construction and repair and restoration projects. Scopes can include material supply, subcontracting, design‑build, and self‑perform installation with our field crews.
• Prepare and implement contracts including negotiating revisions while working with internal contracts teams.
• Develop and manage schedules in collaboration with field leadership and clients.
• Maintain project profit & loss responsibility as well as other project financial reporting including projections, budgets, cost‑to‑completes, change orders, etc.
• Oversee the buyout of permanent and temporary materials, equipment rental, drawing and work‑plan submittals, and subcontractor management.
• Integrate into the heavy civil division, providing strong leadership and direct supervision to project teams (including other Project Managers, Field Managers, Project Engineers, and field crews) and subcontractors.
• Work closely with in‑house Estimators and Sales teams to assist in reviewing bids and developing proposals.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field of study.
• 3‑8 years of relevant civil construction industry experience.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to successfully manage construction projects in the range of $1 Million – $10 Million contract value.
• Previous experience managing heavy civil or post‑tensioned projects that include structural concrete placement, beam erection, structural strengthening, CFRP installation or similar activities (hands‑on construction experience is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of computer‑based programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), HCSS, MS Project or Primavera P6, Procore, and other project management related and forecasting tools.
• Strong leadership skills to effectively train and mentor others.
• Travel expectation 20‑25% as needed; project relocation may be necessary.
