Position: TEACHER ASSISTANT-BILINGUAL / SPANISH

POSITION GOAL

To provide bilingual instructional assistance in the classroom by assisting with the preparation of instructional materials, presenting classroom instruction, performing clerical duties, and supervising student activities. Responsibilities are consistent with state statutes, regulations, and educational best practices of the School Board of Broward County, Florida. The incumbent may also support the effective implementation of a specific grant, if necessary.

Work Location: CRYSTAL LAKE MIDDLE, POMPANO BEACH

Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Assist leading teachers and support classroom learning goals.
  • Develop and organize instructional materials.
  • Deliver classroom instruction in a bilingual setting.
  • Perform clerical duties related to student records and instructional resources.
  • Supervise and assist students to promote an enriching educational environment.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Standard high‑school diploma or successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) testing program.
  • Successful completion of the Teacher Assisting Curriculum at a designated technical college within the Broward County School District and a passing score on the Para Pro Test or another official standard test demonstrating proficiency in supporting instruction of reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics, or readiness in these areas.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English and the language representative of the targeted English‑language learners.
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultures and ability to work effectively with students.
  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Earned associate’s degree from an accredited institution or at least 60 semester hours of earned college credit.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children within the last five (5) years.
  • Six (6) semester hours in human growth and development.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $16.89 per hour. Shift differential:
None. New hires will receive the minimum salary within the assigned range.
