Position GoalTo provide the highest quality care and supervision to students in the Broward County School System by providing classroom supports that enhance the instructional process. Also plays a vital role in the instructional process of an individualized program of education.
Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesOn a daily basis, works with assigned classroom teacher(s) and classroom students to support high-quality and effective instructional and behavioral program delivery to students. Also provides assistance, care, and supervision to students and frequently interacts with other personnel within the assigned school in performing daily work routine.
Minimum Qualifications- A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development (GED) testing program.
- The ability to interact and communicate effectively with children.
- Computer skills required as needed for the position.
- Successful completion of the Principal of Teaching formerly known as Teacher Assisting Curriculum at the designated technical college in the Broward County School District.
- Achieving a passing score on the Para Pro Test, or other officially sanctioned standard tests, to demonstrate the ability to assist in instructing reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics; or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
- An earned associate degree from an accredited institution, or at least 60 semester hours of earned college credit from an accredited institution.
- Bilingual skills.
Note: Candidate must meet the preferred qualifications if the position is funded by Title I.
Physical RequirementsMedium work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the district’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
CompensationHourly Rate: $16.89 per hour.
