At Kraton, we are looking for a key member of our Operations team at our Panama City, Florida location.
The Fixed Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for the fixed equipment mechanical integrity program of the plant for fixed equipment – including process piping, tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, relief devices, and special emphasis items. The engineer will lead continuous improvements of fixed assets within the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the overall fixed equipment mechanical integrity program and ensure compliance with safety, reliability principles, government laws, and industrial codes.
- Support, participate in and review Root Cause Failure Analyses to ensure action items reduce risk.
- Manage staff and contract mechanical integrity employees.
- Champion site best practices, evaluate new technology and ideas to continually improve reliability of fixed equipment.
- Assist Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance in training and processes to ensure proper operation and maintenance of fixed equipment.
- Provide input to planning and scheduling to balance repair versus proactive maintenance.
- Develop and track reliability targets through metrics.
- Facilitate cross‑functional communication to make value‑added decisions.
- Safely, efficiently, and reliably complete outages with leak‑free start‑ups.
- Own the bad‑actor management process for fixed equipment and take action to eliminate failures.
- Implement reliability improvement strategies to reduce cost and operations interruption.
- Develop and enforce reliability expectations for preventive and predictive activities.
- Lead site quality assurance and quality control initiatives.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses as required.
- Develop fixed equipment projects that improve reliability and provide technical guidance to project managers and engineers.
- Lead special emphasis fixed equipment mechanical integrity initiatives and develop budgets.
- Perform Fit for Service calculations for fixed equipment.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in fixed equipment design, fabrication, repairs, and/or inspection.
- Ability to work in a plant environment involving stairs, ladders, heights, confined spaces, walking, crawling, crouching, balancing, and sitting.
- Extended hours may be required, including weekends and holidays; willingness to provide on‑call support.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of ASME and API codes of construction, repair, rerate, and alteration.
- Working knowledge of non‑destructive testing techniques.
- Experience with CMMS and IDMS.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of API 571, API 574, API 575, and NBIC.
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience with Meridium or GE APM‑MI.
- Experience with Sologic for Root Cause Failure Analysis.
- Familiarity with industry‑available fixed equipment design and fit‑for‑service computer programs.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related field. Fifteen years of fixed equipment related experience may be considered equivalent.
