Forklift Operator
Job Summary
The Forklift Operator Position will use a forklift to facilitate movement of product and materials in an organized and safe manner throughout the facility to maximize space and productivity.
Essential Functions- Comply with Company Safety Policies and Procedures
- Wear assigned PPE to safely perform all job tasks
- Wear steel‑toed boots for the duration of the work shift
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude
- Report any and all injuries to the supervisor(s)
- Perform general housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean and safe work area
- Attend company‑sponsored training when necessary
- Report to work daily and on time unless otherwise excused
- Abide by all of Boral safety and/or quality policies and procedures
- Perform a daily inspection on the assigned forklift and notify appropriate personnel of all safety and maintenance issues prior to operating the forklift
- Transfer material throughout the facility and store new product in designated areas
- Safely secure and load flatbed trucks as needed (where applicable)
- Follow company safety procedures pertaining to forklift safety
- Follow all forklift safety procedures when replacing empty propane tanks on forklifts
- Wrap finished product for shipping (where applicable)
- Load and unload trucks with finished goods
- Maintain and control loading‑zone security
- Retrieve pallets
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
- Attend to regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
Skills And Abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be able to read and write in English and/or Spanish
- Ability to receive and carry out instructions given by management
- Ability to model desired behavior and conduct for all employees
- Must be safe‑minded and alert during operations
- Demonstrated traits of honesty and integrity and ability to maintain confidential information
- Must be able to perform simple mathematical functions
- Must possess the ability to obtain forklift certification and have thorough knowledge of operating policies and procedures
The employee should have the following:
- Training or certification in relevant skills or trade
- 1—2 years' experience in a relevant field
Physical Requirements /Work Environment
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Prolong standing or remain in a stationary position
- Complete repetitive movements
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hard‑hat protection)
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Move or traverse around the facilities
- Work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
