We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Quality Engineer / Customer Quality Engineer to join our team in Pompano Beach, FL. In this role, you will serve as the primary quality interface between the site and key customers while leading the hourly inspection team in support of safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing operations. You will drive efforts to maintain and improve product quality, resolve customer and internal quality issues, ensure compliance with customer and contractual requirements, and lead execution of core quality fundamentals across the manufacturing process.
This role requires close partnership with customer quality teams and internal cross-functional teams, along with strong people leadership, technical judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary customer quality point of contact for assigned accounts.
- Interface directly with customer quality organizations to address escapes, investigations, corrective actions, and ongoing performance improvement initiatives.
- Lead and manage customer and internal quality issues, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and closure of actions.
- Provide direct people leadership for the hourly inspection team, including staffing, work assignment, performance management, coaching, development, and employee engagement.
- Lead daily execution and prioritization of incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to support production requirements and customer commitments.
- Ensure the inspection team executes work in compliance with quality procedures, standard work, customer requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, operations, and supply chain to resolve product quality issues, reduce escapes, and improve process capability and product conformity.
- Analyze quality metrics, inspection trends, customer feedback, and escape data to identify recurring issues and implement sustainable improvements.
- Support and lead responses to customer concerns, audits, quality reviews, and site visits as required.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate quality metrics, action plans, and performance updates to site leadership and customers.
- Build team capability through training, standardization, and development of inspectors to ensure strong execution and succession readiness.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or a related technical function.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, customer quality, or a related technical role.
- Minimum of prior experience leading teams, projects, or frontline manufacturing/inspection activities in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for quality processes, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action methodologies, and structured problem solving.
- Experience interfacing with customers and cross-functional stakeholders on quality-related matters.

- Experience leading or supervising hourly inspection or shop-floor quality personnel.
- Experience in customer quality management, including direct interaction with customer quality teams.
- Experience in aerospace, aviation, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality systems, process controls, manufacturing quality fundamentals, and nonconformance management.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and FAA requirements, as applicable.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual quality requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using quality data, escapes, and trends to drive decisions and improvements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, shop operations, and site leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, RCCA, CAPA, FMEA, and SPC.
