Field Service Operations - Superintendent Engineer

Job Summary

Provide technical service installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, overhauls, modernization and training for diesel engines and turbochargers on seagoing vessels and power plants. Supervise external contractors, support customers, and manage project execution while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and company policies.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical service installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, overhauls, and modernization for engines and turbochargers manufactured by the company.
  • Provide technical advice, training, and service program information, including follow‑up to previously visited vessels and engine‑related support to customers.
  • Direct and supervise work performed by outside contractors in the repair of the company’s engines.
  • Assist workshops in technical matters, collect receivables, and maintain good business relations with all customers.
  • Innovate and develop products and technical solutions.
  • Plan and perform intensive travel via car, train, plane, launch boat, and, if necessary, helicopter on short notice.
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers while performing all duties.
  • Implement internal technical modifications and information updates.
  • Handle various projects at all levels of the organization.
  • File service reports within two days after job completion.
  • Return tools in good condition.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • File and organize documents and appropriate folders.
  • Adhere to internal Everllence rules and regulations.
  • Lead the team to finish work on time and ensure high quality of service.
  • Follow all guidelines and compliance policies.
  • Support sales activities by providing technical advice to generate new business opportunities.
  • Update scheduling tool SEPS after returning from a job.
  • Respond to customer inquiries (email and phone calls), including emergency after‑hours calls, data reviews, and recommendations.
  • Act as project manager on large jobs following the communication protocol OPS‑DP206.
  • Support workshop employees’ training to improve their knowledge.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment from the customer side and internal sources are reliable and safe.
  • Share best practices with the mechanics team before and after any service.
  • Identify safety risks in the field and report to the customer.
  • Ensure proper usage of specialty tools.
  • Follow technical procedures from manuals.
  • Supervise mechanics to ensure high quality and safety of work.
  • Document all events and procedures used in a service.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE for the team.
  • Stop work if safety or quality is compromised.
  • When a job requires more than 12 hours, coordinate extra hours with general manager.
  • Track all working hours and report within the required period, including hours for field service technicians.
  • Finalize expense reports, timesheets, and allocations promptly for invoicing.
  • Submit expense reports weekly or monthly and allocate expenses to appropriate job numbers in the Concur system.
  • Select the most economical travel options for customers.
  • Use the corporate credit card only for job‑related expenses.
  • Obtain manager approval before purchasing tools on jobs.
Required Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.

A.) from a four‑year college or university; marine or mechanical engineering preferred.

Required Experience

Four or more years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills
  • Basic knowledge of control systems, electronic, pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
  • Sound knowledge of 4‑stroke and 2‑stroke engines, turbochargers, and propellers.
  • First aid proficiency.
  • Crane and forklift training.
  • Completed safety training courses.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in wet, humid, hot conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in high precarious places.
  • Capability to operate in an engine room with running engines, high temperatures, humidity, vibrations, and loud noises.
