The Plumbing Technician (aka Journeyman level) has 6 or more years’ experience as a senior helper for a plumbing technician and may sometimes be ready to sit for a plumbing licensing exam. Must have experience with residential plumbing and commercial builder plumbing and be highly proficient in at least two of the following phases of plumbing construction: ground rough; top‑out; finish and at least knowledgeable of the third.
Repairs, water supply, drain cleaning and repair sewer lines, water heater installation, and fixture repair are all pluses.
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, fixtures in commercial and residential structures
- Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals
- Follow building plans and blueprints
- Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies
- Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems
- Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed and materials used
- Occasionally perform, assist, supervise, and/or train junior technicians in the following:
- Plumbing trade skills
- Sewer and drain jetting
- Rigid S‑Snake camera system (or similar)
- Roof work possible for vent system cleaning/inspections
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
- Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
- Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
- Excellent problem‑solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
- Must have experience with high‑end residential clients
- Must provide basic tools; company will provide specialized/large tools
- Works well with a diverse group of people
- Strong work ethic and moral character
- Must meet and maintain South Shore Plumbing minimum insurance requirements
- Successful completion of a drug screening
- A successful MVR check
- Valid Driver’s License
- Able to legally work in the United States
