Crane Mechanic Or Industrial Electrician
This role focuses on field-based service and repair of cranes, working both independently and as the primary on-site representative of the company. You will diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure all work meets established safety and quality standards. The position offers a mix of home-based work and travel, with frequent opportunities to work at height using lifts or climbing equipment.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair crane systems, including 3-phase motors, PLCs, and electrical circuits and power systems.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain hydraulic and mechanical systems on cranes to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance and service tasks on cranes and related industrial equipment.
- Complete inspection checklists accurately and thoroughly in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Interpret and work from industrial blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to guide repairs and maintenance.
- Use welding and mechanical repair techniques as needed to restore equipment to proper working condition.
- Provide on-site service at customer locations, often working as the sole technician and acting as the face of the company.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers to explain findings, repairs, and any recommended follow-up work.
- Operate a company truck safely and maintain a clean, organized, and professional work vehicle.
- Follow all safety protocols, including working safely at heights using scissor lifts or climbing equipment when required.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair 3-phase motors, PLCs, and electrical circuits and power systems.
- Strong experience repairing and maintaining hydraulic systems on industrial or crane equipment.
- Solid mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience repairing mechanical systems.
- Ability to complete inspection checklists accurately and in compliance with relevant standards.
- Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting and repair in an industrial environment.
- Mechanical and preventive maintenance experience on cranes or similar industrial equipment.
- Hydraulics knowledge, including diagnosis and repair of hydraulic components and systems.
- Welding skills sufficient to support structural and mechanical repairs as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret industrial blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to work independently in the field.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and represent the company professionally on customer sites.
- Ability to work safely at heights, including up to approximately 100 feet on a scissor lift or through climbing when required.
- Ability to meet motor vehicle record (MVR) requirements for operating a company truck.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience performing field service work on cranes or similar industrial equipment.
- Comfort working independently as the sole technician on customer sites.
- Strong communication and customer service skills to serve as the primary on-site representative.
- Attention to detail and thorough documentation habits for inspections and service reports.
