Job Description
As an AH Security Officer 1, you ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors in AH healthcare facilities and corporate locations. The responsibilities include monitoring premises, preventing unauthorized access, responding to emergencies, and enforcing hospital safety and security policies. This is a Per Diem Security Officer position at Chilton Medical Center.
Essential Functions Security and Surveillance- Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to deter and detect criminal activity, suspicious behavior, and unauthorized access.
- Monitor security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance equipment to ensure the safety of the premises.
- Secure entrances, exits, and restricted areas to prevent breaches or theft.
- Control pedestrian and vehicular traffic as needed.
- Work various 8‑ or 12‑hour shifts (including holidays), be available for call‑back assignments, and attend all mandatory training.
- Lifting up to 100 lbs and standing for extended periods (up to four hours).
- Respond promptly to disturbances involving Team Members, Patients, and Visitors; deescalate situations and ensure safety.
- Respond promptly to acute medical events to assist clinical staff as needed.
- Respond promptly to fire alarms, participate in suppression, and assist all affected parties.
- Investigate missing children and suspected infant abduction.
- Lead during Active Shooter and other disaster or emergency situations.
- Verify the identity of visitors and vendors entering AH Medical Centers, Corporate Locations, and Off‑Site Locations.
- Enforce policies regarding access to sensitive areas such as patient rooms, operating rooms, or pharmacies.
- Issue and manage all Team Member badges.
- Use EZ Lobby and Rep Trex computer systems for vendor badge access.
- Provide directions and assistance to patients and visitors.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while addressing complaints or concerns.
- Serve as a visible point of contact to reassure staff and visitors that the facilities are a safe environment.
- Prepare well‑written, detailed, and accurate incident reports using the IMC Computer database.
- Maintain logs of daily activities including patient scans, helicopter arrivals, property reports, contraband reports, and forensic patient reports.
- Communicate effectively with all Team Members.
- Use Security Technology such as AHECN distribution, IMC Computer, Mutualink, Victor Video System, and ONYX Panel.
- Work closely with hospital staff to ensure safety protocols are followed consistently with AH policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services as required.
- Participate in Iron Temple Response Control Techniques (RCT) training twice per month and maintain RCT certification with Iron Temple.
- Complete FEMA Incident Command System 100, 200, and IS 700 National Incident Management System courses.
- Participate in Emergency Management Decontamination Training.
- Keep up to date on all AH Protection and Security Services policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
FEMAICS 100/200/700 to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
Required LicensesValid driver’s license with a driving record in compliance with AH’s eligibility requirements.
