Job SummaryDevelop an elementary program focused on rigorous, content‑based curriculum within a 21st century framework of collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. The goal is high academic achievement, effective communication with parents and community, support for district goals and beliefs, and a commitment to professional growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop lesson plans and instructional material to teach Oklahoma Standards, Ponca City Power Standards, and grade‑level curriculum maps.
- Use formative and summative data to guide instruction, plan student interventions, and communicate progress to parents.
- Provide individualized and small‑group instruction, adapting the curriculum as needed.
- Fully implement behavior or academic interventions and individualized education plans for all students.
- Provide a technology‑enriched environment to support student learning.
- Follow all state laws, administrative regulations, and district policies or procedures.
- Instruct students in site and district policies and procedures to create a safe and orderly environment.
- Teach and encourage good citizenship.
- Create a classroom climate conducive to learning through functional and attractive displays, learning centers, and exhibits of student work.
- Communicate regularly with parents outside the normal classroom day via newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Evaluate student academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plan and coordinate the work of teacher assistants, parent volunteers, and other classroom aides on field trips.
- Collaborate with other professionals to enrich and improve student academic progress.
- Meet state, district, and site staff development requirements.
Supervise classroom students, volunteers, and support staff working under your direction.
Education and ExperienceEducation
:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
Certificate
:
Valid Teaching Certificate.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and the public.
Mathematical skills: work with concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry; apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning ability: solve practical problems and handle varied concrete variables when limited standardization exists; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other skills: apply current research and theory to instructional program; plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and student needs; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; proficiency in oral and written communication; awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentFrequent standing, talking or hearing; occasional walking and sitting; occasionally push or lift up to 30 lbs. Requires close vision for reading or typing and the ability to adjust focus. The environment includes moderate to loud indoor conditions, with occasional outdoor activities.
