Library Monitor
Oversees the day-to-day operation of the media center or perform duties under the direct supervision of a Library Media Specialist.
High School Diploma or GED
Thorough knowledge of media center procedures and equipment
Ensures efficient management of the circulation desk, electronic card catalog, and computer lab.
Instructs students on the proper use of print and electronic library and computer lab resources, including developing students' research, reference and critical thinking skills.
Conducts an annual inventory, including discarding dated materials.
Tracks overdue media center materials and notify students of outstanding items.
Keeps media center in neat order throughout the day.
Answers the telephone and takes messages.
Delivers audio/visual equipment; maintains inventory.
Runs computer and audio/visual equipment as necessary.
Assists in suggesting and locating instructional materials for teachers.
Assists in maintaining files and records in library.
Regularly participates in appropriate professional development opportunities.
Utilizes professional behavior in all school related interactions.
Complies with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.
Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
