ISC is searching for an Instrumentation Engineer for a long-term contract with a client with refinery operations in proximity to Ponca City, OK. This is a long-term project with the prospect for renewals, extensions, and perhaps going full-time.
The Instrumentation Engineer plays a key role in designing, engineering, and implementing process instrumentation and control systems from concept to commissioning. This position ensures that instrumentation and control systems are both reliable and cost-effective while also providing technical support to process engineers in developing design specifications.
Additionally, the Instrument Engineer/Specialist:
- Develops operating and training manuals for mechanical and process personnel.
- Conducts training for operating personnel.
- Prepares purchase and construction specifications.
- Participates in Factory Acceptance Tests.
- Specifies, procures, and configures Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and field hardware, including transmitters, control valves, and electronic transmission systems.
This role requires adherence to industry standards, including API (American Petroleum Institute), ISA (Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), and corporate standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering efforts for instrumentation and controls in capital projects, including front-end loading, cost estimation, specification development, and oversight of detailed design.
- Identify and implement instrumentation and control solutions to improve plant operations and profitability.
Basic Qualifications (Must-Haves):
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in the refining or chemicals industry as an Instrument Engineer.
- Option 2: Associate’s degree in instrumentation technology, electronics, or a related field with at least 10 years of experience in process instrumentation design and/or maintenance.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the refining or chemicals industry.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have):
- Proficiency in SAP - PM & PS Modules.
- Strong project estimation and project engineering skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project.
