Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Milling Department Lead to grow with us. This role goes beyond machining: it provides an opportunity to lead, build processes, and shape the future of a fast-growing manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and program 3‑ and 4‑axis CNC mills, both horizontal and vertical.
  • Lead, train, and mentor CNC machinists and operators.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Production Management and the CNC machining team.
  • Schedule and prioritize jobs to ensure efficient workflow and on‑time delivery.
  • Define work assignments and coordinate machining tasks for team members.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Manufacturing Engineering to optimize tooling, fixturing, and programming.
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD files, technical drawings, and engineering instructions.
  • Apply machining principles to improve process efficiency and order management.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure precision standards are met.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following company safety and 5S standards.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and shop upkeep.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, quality, safety, and production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all PPE, lockout/tagout, and company safety procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in CNC machining processes and manufacturing flow.
  • Strong blueprint and CAD interpretation skills.
  • Working knowledge of G‑code and conversational programming.
  • Scheduling, coordination, and production planning skills.
  • Leadership capability to motivate a fast‑paced team.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Quality control analysis and inspection capability.
  • Decision‑making with cost‑benefit awareness.
  • Effective cross‑department communication skills.
  • Adaptability to machining methodologies based on order requirements.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Stand for a minimum of 8 hours per shift.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Reach, bend, and handle moderately heavy parts frequently.
  • Exposure to noise, metal shavings, machinery, and industrial production conditions.
  • Required PPE: safety glasses, gloves, and steel‑toed boots.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years operating manual mills.
  • 5+ years CNC machining and programming experience.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and machine setup.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in high‑precision assembly, tool and die making.
  • Experience with HURCO and DOOSAN mills.
  • Experience with conversational programming systems.
  • In‑depth understanding of G‑code programming.
