Description

The Production Scheduler is responsible for translating the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into executable daily and weekly production plans that support customer delivery commitments, inventory objectives, and operational efficiency. This role partners closely with Manufacturing, Supplier Scheduling, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure materials are available, production priorities are aligned, and capacity requirements are effectively managed.

What You’ll Do:

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop weekly and daily production schedules based on the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to optimize inventory levels, maximize productivity, and support customer service objectives.
  • Monitor and track schedule attainment, making adjustments as needed to maintain production performance and delivery commitments.
  • Collaborate with the Materials and Production Manager to maintain capacity requirements plans that support production demands and operational capabilities.
  • Manage daily production priorities and communicate scheduling changes to relevant stakeholders.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Ensure inventory accuracy, inventory days on hand (DOH), and replenishment strategies align with plant performance targets.
  • Maintain safety stock, planning policies, increments and max order amounts within the ERP system to support material flow and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate the movement and scheduling of inventory across all outside processing locations.
  • Support inventory forecasting and planning efforts to meet production requirements while minimizing excess inventory.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Supplier Scheduling, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure materials are available when needed to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate resolution of material shortages, supply constraints, and production issues that may impact customer commitments.
  • Maintain strong working relationships and communication across departments.
  • Facilitate collaboration between operational teams to drive schedule adherence and continuous improvement.

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage daily production support activities, including expediting materials, setting production priorities, and resolving supply issues.
  • Support initiatives that improve operating efficiencies, reduce costs, and enhance supply chain performance.
  • Contribute to achieving plant-level performance metrics related to on-time delivery, schedule attainment, inventory accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Operate within budget expectations and support the reduction of overhead and operating expenses.

What We Look For:

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field, with at least 1 year of material management or production scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In lieu of a degree, an additional three years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience developing production schedules, managing inventory, and supporting capacity planning activities.
  • Working knowledge of MRP and ERP systems required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
  • Experience with inventory forecasting, production planning, and capacity requirements planning preferred.
