Summary

The Junior Field Engineer acts as the primary on-site technical representative for 2

JCP with EPC contractors and OEM clients. This role owns site assessments, installation support, troubleshooting, and client training on gas turbine and clean energy equipment. The Junior Field Engineer works independently across multiple U.S. project sites, manages competing field priorities, and coordinates issues back to engineering, operations, and commercial teams. When not in the field, the role supports project execution, documentation, and technical problem-solving from the Jax hub.

  • Serve as 2

    JCP's on-site technical lead with EPC contractors, OEM clients, and site stakeholders during surveys, deliveries, installation, and commissioning support.
  • Plan and execute site assessments to evaluate readiness, identify risks, and confirm compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards.
  • Provide independent on-site technical support, including troubleshooting equipment and systems, interpreting specifications and drawings, and resolving issues that would otherwise delay the job.
  • Coordinate logistics, equipment deliveries, punch-list items, and field-to-office communication so sites stay covered without pulling other team members off their assignments.
  • Deliver training to clients and site personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Produce clear field reports, survey notes, technical drawings, and documentation that the rest of the team can act on.
  • Gather and analyze field data, identify recurring issues, and work with engineering and operations to implement corrections.
  • Escalate commercial, schedule, or technical risks early, with a recommended path forward.
  • Support office-based project work between site trips, including design support, testing coordination, and project tracking.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct reports. It does require independent judgment on site and the ability to direct contractor or client personnel on 2

JCP scope when needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on field experience.
  • Typically 2-5 years of field engineering, field service, commissioning, or site support experience in power generation, gas turbines, heavy industrial equipment, or similar energy systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on active construction or operating sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and OEM standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license; valid passport required for international travel.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; background check required.
  • Independence:
    Owns assigned sites and knows when to escape.
  • Problem solving:
    Diagnoses issues quickly and drives a practical resolution.
  • Communication:
    Writes clear field reports and speaks plainly with clients and contractors.
  • Technical proficiency:
    Applies gas turbine and energy-system knowledge in the field.
  • Adaptability:
    Handles changing site schedules, competing priorities, and travel.
  • Initiative:
    Anticipates coverage gaps and acts before work snowballs.
  • Teamwork:
    Coordinates cleanly with the Jax hub, UK/EU counterparts, and site partners.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hand and finger dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, elevated work, fumes, airborne particles, or extreme weather.
