The RoleWe are seeking a Junior Controller & Tax Specialist to support the Finance function across multiple entities and business lines. This is not a bookkeeping role. This position is designed for a detail‑oriented accounting professional who understands how clean financials support capital deployment, lender relationships, and portfolio growth.
You will work closely with senior leadership and the Finance Director to ensure accurate reporting, tax compliance, and disciplined financial controls across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Financial Operations- Record and classify transactions across multiple entities
- Maintain job cost accounting by project
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany balances
- Maintain debt schedules and track interest accruals
- Support construction draw tracking and lender reporting
- Manage vendor payments and accounts payable workflow
- Generate and issue customer invoices
- Monitor receivables and aging schedules
- Support payroll processing and related tax compliance
- Prepare and file 1099s
- Coordinate with external CPA for annual filings and K‑1 support
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns
- Support federal and state tax compliance
- Maintain tax compliance calendar
- Assist with property tax tracking and documentation
- Organize documentation for refinancing and audit readiness
- Generate monthly financial statements
- Assist with asset‑level reporting
- Perform variance analysis versus budget
- Identify and correct accounting discrepancies
- Support capital efficiency and performance reporting initiatives
- Strengthen internal controls and documentation standards
- Improve accounting workflows and reporting processes
- Maintain organized audit trails for lenders and investors
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance equivalent experience required
- 3–5 years of accounting experience
- Experience in real estate, construction, or multi‑entity environments preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with job cost accounting preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books or similar)
- Exposure to tax compliance processes required
- CPA track or EA designation is a plus
- Accuracy under pressure
