Job Summary

The primary purpose of this job position is to supervise the day‑to‑day nursing activities of the facility. Such supervision must be in accordance with the current federal, state, and local standards and regulations that govern the facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is always maintained.

Sign‑on bonuses are available to new hires who meet specific eligibility criteria, including maintaining full‑time status, working scheduled 12‑hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., and remaining actively employed in good standing at each payment milestone. The total bonus amount is $5,000 and is distributed over time according to a structured payment schedule: $1,000 after 90 days of employment, $1,500 at the 6‑month mark, and the remaining $2,500 after completing one year of employment.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates and directs the nursing care of all residents in accordance with current rules, regulations, and facility standards of care.
  • Ensures that nursing service procedures and manual are followed by nursing personnel, and that they reflect the day nursing care procedures used by the facility.
  • Attends or coordinates various committee meetings of the facility (infection control, quality assurance, quarterly interdisciplinary meetings, etc.) as required.
  • Conducts daily rounds of the unit to ensure that all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards and reports problem areas to the Director of Nursing or designated person.
  • Assists support services in developing, implementing, and conducting in‑service training programs, orientation programs, and other programs related to the nursing services department.
  • Performs routine charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures; monitors staff nurses and CNAs for compliance.
  • Monitors shifts personnel to assure that they follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment, supplies, and work areas, and that all nursing personnel participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner.
  • Assures that a stock level of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc. is always maintained on the unit and that supplies are used efficiently to avoid waste.
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, meeting with staff on a regularly scheduled basis to identify and correct problems and to review and evaluate the workforce and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing.
  • Monitors medication passes and treatment schedules to assure that medications are administered as ordered and treatments are provided as scheduled; reviews medication and treatment books for accurate documentation.
  • Participates in the development of a written plan of care for each resident, identifies problems, needs, or concerns of that resident, and ensures that all personnel follow the resident plan of care.
  • Monitors nursing care to ensure that all resident rights are adhered to and ensures that nursing personnel are knowledgeable of residents’ rights.
  • Identifies problems and implements planned changes to improve nursing care on the unit; informs the Director of Nursing of staffing needs and develops work assignments.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
  • Must possess a valid and current R.N. or L.P.N. License in the State of Florida.
  • Must be able to write, read, and speak the English language.
  • Must possess a current and valid CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately.
