Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily store operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, maximizing sales and profitability, maintaining Peterbrooke's brand standards, and leading a high-performing team. This role combines retail management, team leadership, inventory control, and customer engagement to create an outstanding shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities Store Operations
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the chocolate retail store.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising standards.
  • Open and close the store according to established procedures.
  • Monitor cash handling, deposits, and point-of-sale operations.
Sales & Business Performance
  • Achieve sales goals and profitability targets.
  • Analyze sales reports and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and implement local marketing and promotional initiatives.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and community organizations to increase sales.
  • Drive seasonal and holiday sales campaigns.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop store employees.
  • Create work schedules and manage labor costs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused work environment.
  • Address employee concerns and maintain team morale.
Customer Service
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences consistent with the Peterbrooke brand.
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure staff members provide knowledgeable product recommendations.
  • Promote customer loyalty and repeat business.
Inventory & Product Management
  • Monitor inventory levels and place product orders.
  • Minimize waste and product loss.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of chocolate and confectionery products.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of retail management experience.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience with inventory management and cash handling.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
