HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter Night Shift (Pontefract VMU)

Location: Pontefract

Salary: £20 to £25 per hour DOE

Hours: Monday to Friday, 22:00 to 06:30, Sunday overtime available

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Pontefract. This is a night shift role working within a high performing VMU environment where quality, safety and uptime are critical.

As an HGV Technician
, you will be part of a skilled team keeping fleet vehicles roadworthy, compliant and operating at maximum efficiency. This is a great opportunity for an HGV Technician who takes pride in diagnostics, repairs and delivering high standards of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities of a HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter
  • As a HGV Technician
    , you will carry out routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on HGV and trailer vehicles
  • Diagnose faults and identify worn or defective components in line with DVSA standards as an HGV Technician
  • Complete inspections, preventative maintenance and safety checks
  • Support breakdown and emergency repair work when required
  • Maintain accurate records of all work completed
  • Keep the workshop clean, safe and compliant at all times
  • Work closely with other technicians to plan and complete repairs efficiently as an HGV Technician
Skills and Experience Required
  • Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance or equivalent (NVQ, City and Guilds or IMI)
  • IRTEC accreditation is required
  • Strong experience as an HGV Technician working with HGV and trailers
  • Good diagnostic and fault finding ability
  • Understanding of DVSA standards and LOLER requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality work as an HGV Technician
