Auxiliary Binding Machine Operator
This person will set up, adjust and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines containing several cutting heads, control surfaces or other attachments (i.e. inkjet and mailing devices, case making & decorating equipment, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines and/or set up automatic bindery machines containing multiple functions and station capabilities (power paper cutters, power collators and gatherers, power folders, power speed binder) which can be electromechanically combined with other equipment and devices to produce a complete bindery and finishing unit that processes printed sheets into final books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines or other completed products.
Job Summary:
Troubleshoot and identify electrical and mechanical problems. Repair complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment. Utilize multi-skilled approach to problem solving and testing equipment and diagrams to isolate problems. Understand and utilize a wide array of tools and equipment. Welding and fabrication are a plus.
Essential Duties:
- Identify faults or problems in equipment/machinery.
- Diagnose problems in a physical process.
- Identify faults in equipment.
- Critically examine information for accuracy/quality.
- Analyze numerical and written information.
- Repair machinery or equipment in a timely fashion.
- Regularly check machinery for maintenance.
- Connect or wire electrical apparatus in sequence, and also run conduit.
- Use precision tools or instruments (e.g., engraving).
- Use hand-held power machinery.
- Generate solutions to problems with equipment.
- Suggest new solutions to production problems.
- Find ways to improve efficiency of an operation.
- Other duties as assigned by management
Basic Qualifications:
Experience in maintenance and equipment installation, including high voltage electricity and/or electronics. Minimum of 4-6 years of previous experience working on similar electrical, electron and mechanical equipment. Possess technical skills to complete both mechanical and electrical repairs. Ability to read both mechanical and electrical drawings. Knowledge of electrical codes and PLC's (preferred). Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics is a plus.
Able to follow instructions and make decisions. Must be a proven self-starter to complete projects/work orders. Must work well with others. Must be flexible and open to change when needed. Must be willing to work overtime as well as 12 hour shifts.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing while setting up and operating equipment. Continuously bending, twisting, kneeling, and squatting. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
