An exciting contract opportunity awaits experienced social workers passionate about supporting students in a K-12 special education setting. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference during both the ESY and NSY terms in a dynamic school environment near Pontiac, MI.

This position is strictly onsite and requires service through both dates: the Extended School Year (ESY) from June 30, 2026, to August 6, 2026 (up to 25 hours per week), and the full Normal School Year (NSY) from August 17, 2026, to June 11, 2027 (up to 35 hours per week). The district values professionals who can commit to both periods, ensuring consistency and strong relationships with students and staff.

Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan school social worker certification (310); a copy must be submitted with your application.
  • Experience working as a social worker in school settings, with a focus on K-12 and special education.
  • Candidates without current certification must have an arrangement for appropriate supervision in place prior to interviewing.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication, crisis intervention, and advocacy skills.
  • Dedication to supporting students emotional, behavioral, and social development.
  • Commitment to working onsite throughout the assignment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and consultative support to students, staff, and families.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized support plans.
  • Conduct social-emotional assessments and provide ongoing counseling or intervention as needed.
  • Collaborate with educators to foster an inclusive, responsive school environment.
  • Serve as a resource for crisis response, conflict resolution, and community referrals.
