Job Title
Performs a variety of more difficult technical and supportive professional engineering tasks, including:
- Work with RCOC technical and engineering staff to support the installation and modernization of traffic signals and other electrical devices.
- Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, bids, and proposals, and provide expertise on signal standards, details, past signal field experience, and contract documents.
- Monitor contractor field activities to ensure materials and construction methods comply with contract drawings and specifications. Document project field activities using current MDOT methods.
- Coordinate with Permits, Traffic Safety, Highway Maintenance, Design, and Right-of-Way regarding construction, utilities, and project implementation.
- Review and recommend approval of consultant traffic signal design plans (Permit and RCOC).
- Review signal inspector field reports and construction shop drawings for compliance with contract documents.
- Assist the Signal Field Operations Engineer with special traffic engineering projects.
- Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.
- Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.
- Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.
Special Experience/Education
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college/university.
- Must demonstrate strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Proficiency in Field Manager, AASHTOWare, Bluebeam, LCP Tracker, Project Wise, Autodesk software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
