The Capital Markets Summer Internship offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the financial services industry, specifically within the capital markets sector. The Capital Markets team will provide students an understanding of capital markets operations, including trading, investment analysis, risk management, and financial instruments. The Capital Markets team is made up of five main areas:
Trading, Pricing, Pooling & Delivery, Lock Desk, and Warehouse.
TRADING
The Trading Team at UWM is focused on executing efficient trading strategies that maximize liquidity and enhance the company's competitive position in the mortgage market.
- Gain Exposure to the daily trading and hedging process through access to Bloomberg.
- Manage daily reconciliation and margin movements with trading counter parties.
- Analyze trade performance and create reporting to present this data to the team and senior leadership.
- Work on ad-hoc projects as they arise to support trading and the broader Capital Markets teams.
PRICING
The Pricing Team at UWM specializes in developing and implementing pricing strategies that optimize market opportunities and drive profitability for our mortgage products.
- Run daily Best Execution analyses.
- Generate weekly investor price comparisons.
- Write our weekly Market Watch UZone articles.
- Collaborate with Marketing team to redesign Market Watch.
- Process Change of Circumstance requests for Non-Agency Pipeline team.
- Complete ad-hoc reporting requests.
- Participate in huddles and team activities.
POOLING & DELIVERY
The Pooling & Delivery Team at UWM ensures the accurate and timely securitization of mortgage loans, optimizing cash flow and enhancing portfolio performance.
- Working with JPM to fund our GNMA pools.
- Building pools in QRM and tying out the data prior to funding.
- Daily excel reports for pipeline volume and best execution.
LOCK DESK
The Lock Desk Capital Markets Team at UWM efficiently manages interest rate locks, ensuring optimal pricing and risk management for our mortgage products.
- Assist in processing and monitoring interest rate lock requests to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with team members to analyze market trends and pricing strategies.
- Support the preparation of reports and documentation related to locked loans and market conditions.
- Help maintain and update the lock desk database and ensure timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
WAREHOUSE
The Warehouse Team at UWM specializes in managing and providing short-term financing solutions that support the liquidity needs of our mortgage lending operations.
- Reconcile daily Bank files for financial reporting.
- Execute on an Audit project to ensure all Banking access is accurate and precise.
- Work with 10 different Warehouse banks to learn daily disbursements and settlements.
- Accordant an audit review of all job process guides.
- Collaborate on initiatives with the finance and treasury teams.
- Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2027 or 2028(current junior/senior status)
- The ability to work Monday through Friday, 40-hours a week, fully on-site in Pontiac, MI from May 17th - August 6th
