General SummarySalary range: $24.94 – $29.09 per hour.
Responsibilities- Patrol Oakland County Parks to enforce state laws, local ordinances, and park rules.
- Respond to and investigate complaints involving accidents, property damage, disturbances, and other park‑related incidents.
- Answer emergency calls involving illness, injury, fire, or park disruptions.
- Provide emergency first aid services and initial fire response until emergency personnel arrive.
- Cooperate in arresting or citing individuals as necessary.
- Supervise inmate work details assigned within the parks.
- Complete reports and enter daily activities using county and department software systems.
- Enforce Michigan Snowmobile Law, state and local laws during winter patrols.
- Utilize countywide and department‑specific software to document assignments.
- Maintain fitness and readiness for an eight‑hour duty, operating motor vehicles, and giving commands.
- Work inside buildings or in motor vehicles; may need outside work to deliver items or search areas.
- a) At least one (1) year of full‑time experience as an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Deputy;
OR b) Current MCOLES license; or actively attending a Police Academy or equivalent; orc) Completed police academy and eligible to be licensed before hire; ORd) Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy, Marine Deputy, Mounted Deputy, or Park Deputy with 1,000 hours of service; ore) Successful completion of a Reserve Police Academy and 1,000 hours of service.
- Background investigation covering employment, education, credit, criminal, military, or other personal records.
- Compliance with deputy status and firearm qualification.
- Night vision certification (if required).
- Instrument rating in rotocraft or fixed wing aircraft, with flight instructor certification (if required).
- Proficiency in Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e‑mail, and Internet software.
Physical Requirements
Ability to guard an area for a full eight‑hour day, operate a motor vehicle, give commands, inspect facilities, and deliver items. Ability to work in a building or in a motor vehicle and occasionally outside.
