Job Description

Are you a licensed psychologist ready to apply your expertise in a meaningful, service-driven role within the justice system? The Psychologist Senior position in the Circuit Court Department offers the opportunity to provide high-level psychological services that directly support judicial decision-making and improve outcomes for individuals and families involved in court proceedings. In this role, you will conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, deliver expert clinical insights, and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure informed, ethical, and evidence-based recommendations for the court.

  • Prepare detailed, well-supported written reports and provide clear, objective expert testimony when required.
  • Collaborate with judges, attorneys, and multidisciplinary professionals to inform court-related decisions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a full Doctoral license as a Psychologist from the Michigan Department of Community Health; OR
  • Possess a Ph.D. and a limited Doctoral license as a Psychologist from the Michigan Department of Community Health, and be able to obtain full licensure before the six-month probationary period.
  • Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.

NOTE:

An applicant who possesses a license as a psychologist from a state other than Michigan may be certified for appointment and, if offered the position, must apply for Michigan licensure. Employment while receipt of license is pending will be under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. An applicant who possesses a limited Doctoral license must pass the state exam for full licensure prior to completion of the six-month probationary period.

Successful completion of the six-month probationary period is contingent upon receipt of the appropriate licensure from the Michigan Department of Community Health.

Essential Job Functions
  • Administers and scores psychometric and/or projective tests to determine the intellectual, emotional, and social functioning of the client; provides the court and caseworkers written reports of the findings from the evaluation.
  • Assists Chief of Clinical Services in developing in‑service training and educational seminars for caseworkers and attorneys, including new research, techniques and therapy used in handling psychological disorders which cause abuse and neglect, in order to improve the skills of County staff and legal counsel handling clients with disorders.
