The Water Resources Commissioner’s Office is hiring an Engineering Systems Coordinator to support and maintain critical SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems used throughout the county’s water and wastewater facilities. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary range of $85,818 to $114,981, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to work on advanced automation, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and infrastructure improvement projects that have a direct impact on public health and the environment.

• Maintain and support the WRC SCADA system and its related infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and communication issues.
• Identify root causes of outages and equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with Oakland County Information Technology (OCIT) on server, network, database, and infrastructure maintenance and upgrade projects.
• Assist with planning and implementing long‑range capital improvement projects involving SCADA systems.
• Conduct cybersecurity preparedness and disaster recovery exercises to ensure operational readiness.
• Support system upgrades, enhancements, and modernization initiatives.
• Utilize County‑wide and department‑specific software applications to complete assignments and maintain system documentation.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and respond to operational emergencies, power outages, severe weather events, and other critical situations as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• At least five (5) years of full‑time experience developing and supporting SCADA systems (Ignition, Rockwell Automation, Wonderware, Intellution, GE Software).
• Strong knowledge of SCADA infrastructure, networking, and security principles.
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems and collaborating with technical teams.
• Proficiency with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Java, or VBA to generate reports and automate tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• In‑depth knowledge of Ignition by Inductive Automation (Version 7.9) and Vision or Perspective modules.
• Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC suite and Factory Talk View SE.
• Experience with cellular modems/networks, including Verizon DMNR technology.
• Understanding of IT principles, methods, and practices.
• Experience with database administration and current cybersecurity practices.
• Strong interpersonal, problem‑solving, and presentation skills.

• Document standard operating procedures and ensure adherence.
• Act as liaison between WRC and OCIT for SCADA infrastructure and upgrades.
• Monitor SCADA server memory, CPU usage, and recommend programming or scripting improvements.
• Coordinate with Safety Dispatch to ensure proper emergency dispatching for SCADA alarms.
• Maintain the widespread SCADA network and troubleshoot outages with cellular carriers.
• Train WRC and CVT users and prepare user manuals, training guides, and procedures.
• Assist with acceptance testing of site installations, enhancements, and upgrades.
• Oversee contractor work on‑site and remote.
• Review electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control schematics for SCADA integration.
• Develop SCADA HMI graphic screens and write scripts for report generation.
• Interact with vendors to resolve application issues.
