The Opportunity
Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Platform Engineer to join our team. We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer to design, build, automate, and secure our on-premises and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD automation, cybersecurity best practices, and enterprise monitoring platforms. This role will be responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and highly available platform services while ensuring compliance with security standards.
This person will bridge the gap between Dev Ops and IT Infrastructure, fostering a culture of collaboration, speed, and reliability to accelerate our software delivery processes.
This position is 100% on-site.
The Platform Engineer's responsibilities will include:
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade on‑premises cloud infrastructure
- Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters in production environments
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Helm charts for application deployment
- Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and operational tasks using Python
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Argo CD
- Implement cloud and infrastructure security controls based on industry’s best practices
- Perform vulnerability assessments, security hardening, and patch management
- Configure and manage IAM, RBAC, secrets management, and certificate management
- Integrate cybersecurity tools such as vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, SIEM, and compliance platforms
- Deploy and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Open Search, Splunk, or similar).
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and security incidents
- Collaborate with development, Dev Ops, networking, and security teams to deliver secure platform services
- Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards (FAR, DFARS, ITAR, CMMC).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Dev Ops, or Platform Engineering
- 3+ years of hands‑on Kubernetes administration in production environments
- Strong experience with:
Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Python scripting, Jenkins, Argo CD, Git, Linux Administration - Experience with container technologies (Docker/Containerd).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls, VPNs).
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and Git Ops methodologies
- Knowledge of enterprise storage and virtualization platforms
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as:
Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Open Search, Dynatrace, Datadog - Strong knowledge of: RBAC, Network Policies, Pod Security, Kubernetes Security, CIS Benchmarks, Zero Trust principles
- Cloud certifications are highly preferred, including one or more of:
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
