General Summary

$62,867 - $79,323 This position is on‑site

What You’ll Do
  • Provide experienced professional nursing care and consultation services at the Pontiac Clinic and in community-based settings.
  • Assess health needs and provide family‑centered care focused on disease prevention, early detection, treatment support, and appropriate referrals.
  • Administer vaccinations and maintain the clinical skills necessary to support immunization services.
  • Conduct follow‑up investigations and coordinate care with healthcare professionals, schools, community agencies, and other partners.
  • Educate and counsel individuals, families, and groups using preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative techniques.
  • Promote community health through outreach services provided at schools, childcare centers, businesses, community centers, senior living facilities, homes, and community clinics.
  • Independently plan and implement public health nursing services within assigned program areas.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to address known or suspected health concerns affecting individuals and families.
  • Respond to disease outbreaks, high‑volume community outreach events, and other emerging public health nursing needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation using countywide and department‑specific software.

Minimum Qualifications EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Be licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • NOTE:

    A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • NOTE:

    Applicants who are eligible to be licensed by the State of Michigan and who meet the other requirements listed above may take this examination but will not be eligible for appointment until they have been licensed by or possess a valid permit from the Michigan Board of Nursing.
  • ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
    • Knowledge of modern principles, methods, materials, practices, and specialized terminology of public health professional nursing service.
    • Ability to apply the principles, practices, and techniques of professional nursing to the functioning of Health Department Clinics, and services programs offered to schools, nursing homes, day care centers, individual homes, or other settings.
