General SummarySalary range: $75,827-$99,784. The position is onsite and requires the plumbing and pipe fitting expertise to undertake advanced repairs, modifications, and upgrades. The role also involves leading service replacements in residential homes, providing estimates, and ensuring projects are completed safely and to high standards. On‑call assignments are included, and proficiency with current Countywide and department‑specific software is essential.

- Current Master or Journeyman plumber's license issued by the Michigan State Board of Plumbing or an approved agency.
- Valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
- Pass the complete employment medical examination.
- Successfully complete the six‑month probationary period.
- Maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
- Maintain a current Master or Journeyman plumber license or certificate issued by the Michigan Department of Labor or a state‑approved agency.
Leads lower level maintenance employees, checking work, training, assisting, and instructing staff.
Essential Job FunctionsPlan, install, and repair plumbing systems by studying blueprints and work sketches. Review existing and proposed plumbing plans and details. Coordinate with community representatives and obtain necessary permits. Lay out, install, inspect, and repair complete plumbing systems, including water mains, service lines, sewer lines, valves, gauges, pumps, and fixtures. Cut pipe using threading machines as required. Join piping by threading, caulking, soldering, brazing, or cementing.
Perform difficult plumbing/piping for repair, alteration, and modernization projects. Review job orders and specifications to estimate hours, materials, tools, and equipment. Plan, coordinate, and review work of lower-level employees. Order, store, and control materials, tools, and equipment. Maintain records of materials and hours utilized. Advise and recommend procedures to correct difficult or emergency situations. Assist supervisor in inspecting facilities to determine needed repairs.
Review work during construction and upon completion to assess effectiveness. Utilize countywide and department-specific software to complete assignments.
Physical Requirements
Ability to communicate accurately. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and/or be a passenger.
Working ConditionsWork may involve extreme hot or cold temperatures, exposure to smells, dust, gases, and vapors with limited ventilation, confined spaces, or work areas above ground. Appropriate personal safety equipment must be used. Exposure to chemicals, sharp or dangerous objects, weapons, or moving machinery is possible. Driving or traveling may be required.
