Journeyman Plumber - Pontiac, MI

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Journeyman Plumber to add to our growing team. This plumber will be responsible for installing, assembling, repairing, and maintaining commercial and industrial piping systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards, project specifications, and applicable plumbing codes. The role also supports apprentice development and works closely with project teams to complete installations efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair plumbing and piping systems in industrial facilities.
  • Oversee and lead plumbers and field crews, acting as a working foreman on larger projects.
  • Measure, cut, and bend various sizes of pipe and tubing to required angles and lengths using pipe cutters, benders, and related tools.
  • Thread and assemble black and steel pipe, as well as other piping materials, according to specifications and codes.
  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and code requirements to lay out and install piping systems.
  • Install and connect PVC, cast iron, and steel piping for plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Perform brazing, welding, and other joining methods on piping systems as required.
  • Install and service pumping stations, backflow prevention devices, and related mechanical components.
  • Perform rigging and safe handling of materials and equipment needed for industrial plumbing projects.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing and piping issues in industrial environments and implement effective solutions.

Essential Skills &

Qualifications:

  • State of Michigan Master or Journeyman Plumber certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of plumbing/pipe fitting experience in commercial and/or industrial settings.
  • Strong proficiency in threading, brazing, cutting, and bending pipe and tubing.
  • Demonstrated ability to install, maintain, and repair industrial piping systems.
  • Experience with black pipe, steel pipe, PVC, cast iron, and related piping materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and code requirements.
  • Experience working with backflow prevention devices and piping systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industrial facility piping systems and mechanical installations.
  • Experience in a foreman or supervisory role overseeing multiple crews on large-scale projects.

Work Environment:

You work primarily on industrial facility projects, focusing on complex plumbing and piping systems in active industrial environments. The role is field-based and requires regular travel to different project sites, up to approximately half of your time. You use a range of trade tools and equipment, including pipe cutters, benders, threading machines, brazing and welding equipment, and rigging gear, while collaborating with other trades such as HVAC and electrical.

The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and safety-focused, with work performed both indoors and outdoors depending on the project conditions.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $66560.00 - $93600.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
