Make a Difference Through Shared ExperienceSamaritas is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Parent Partner to join our MiFamily Together Preservation Program
. This unique role uses the Building a Brighter Future Parent Partner Model
, connecting families involved in child welfare services with mentors who have successfully navigated similar experiences.
As a Parent Partner, you'll provide encouragement, advocacy, guidance, and hope to parents working toward positive outcomes for their families. Your lived experience can help empower others, strengthen family connections, and support long-term success.

What You'll DoAs a Parent Partner, you will:
- Build trusting relationships with families through phone, virtual, and face-to-face engagement.
- Encourage participation and engagement in case plan activities and services.
- Complete all required Building a Brighter Future and agency trainings.
- Collaborate closely with MiFamily Together advocates, child welfare workers, and community partners.
- Help parents understand and successfully navigate the child welfare process.
- Support and advocate for healthy parent-child connections and family rights.
- Empower parents to identify their strengths, needs, and goals.
- Connect families with valuable community resources and support systems.
- Assist parents in building protective factors that promote family stability and resilience.
- Facilitate monthly voluntary support groups for caregivers participating in services.
- Provide transportation support when needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Required: Personal experience with a previously open CPS or foster care case that was successfully closed.
- No current CPS investigations or substantiated child welfare concerns within family dynamics.
- Willingness to complete Building a Brighter Future Parent Partner training.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and person-centered approach when working with children and families.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
- Valid driver's license with a strong driving record.
- Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients.
- Proof of current automobile insurance.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet family needs.
