Grant Writer Position
Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, to research grant programs, write funding applications, and coordinate and lead the activities of a grant/loan program. Essential Job Functions include researching grant programs and plans, researching and writing funding applications, coordinating and leading the activities of a grant/loan program that supports school district improvement projects, prioritizing project needs, coordinating and researching grant preparation assignments, writing grant applications and ensuring they are complete, clear, accurate, timely, and submitted in accordance with grant/loan requirements, providing timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures, collaborating in defining and implementing project funding strategies, resolving any issues or conflicts with funding agencies, preparing reports as required by granting agencies, managing the procurement process, serving as liaison between the city and outside funding agencies and groups, participating in meetings and discussions in which decisions affecting School District projects are made, serving as a resource to the Superintendent and Board of Education on state and federal funding programs, providing information, research, analysis, written reports and recommendations as needed, coordinating and planning funding program activities, reviewing revenues and expenditures, and project status, ensuring proper expenditures are made for grant projects.
Additional duties include performing other related tasks as assigned by supervisor or the Superintendent. Equipment used includes standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Travel requirements include traveling to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, skills and abilities include knowledge of grant application process and writing of applications, knowledge of various grant programs available to school districts, knowledge of loan documents to track the disposition of funding with project managers and funding agencies, knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and processes regarding grant applications and procurement, ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints, effective written and verbal communication skills, ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in meeting deadlines, ability to take initiative and utilize innovative techniques and ingenuity in preparing grant/loan applications, ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with various departments of the City, ability to research grant opportunities available, and to gather, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data, ability to participate as a team player to coordinate grant projects, ability to develop, write and implement strategic plans and ability to provide necessary documentation to support grant requirements, ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations, ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
