Position: HVAC Project Manager / Project Engineer

We are seeking a Project Manager for our federal team based at Fort Stewart and the Hunter Army Airfield near Savannah, GA. Military experience encouraged but not required. Our team is responsible for long‑term energy efficiency and sustainability projects, primarily related to HVAC, HVAC controls, BAS, metering, MEP, electrical and utility systems.

Location:

Fort Stewart and the Hunter Army Airfield. Pay Range: $100,000 – $140,000 base salary plus bonus, negotiable based on experience.

Benefits:
Eligible for benefits on first day of employment. Vacation: 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks total).

Travel Required:

None; all work based at this location.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as one of the primary on‑site leaders for execution on assigned projects, including installation, service and maintenance of building equipment, systems and technologies, primarily working with electrical, building automation (BAS) and HVAC mechanical equipment.
  • Manage selection, scope of work, procurement, quality and payment of project materials, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontracts.
  • Develop project schedules and execute according to plan.
  • Ensure that assigned projects are done accurately, on‑time, billed within budget and within scope of the contract.
  • Ensure work performed is in compliance with contracts and legal requirements.
  • Adhere to and ensure project personnel and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards, internal policies and US Army Corps of Engineers requirements regarding health and safety.
  • Understand project and contract scopes; actively pursue growth opportunities to help the customer achieve desired outcomes.
  • Help prepare and approve cost estimates, contract terms & conditions, and technical responses to client requests for information, bids and proposals.
  • Ensure electricians, mechanics, technicians and subcontractors complete assigned work per established standards and communicate services performed and completion criteria to customers.
  • Analyze financial reporting and project schedules with the Senior Project Manager to proactively address potential problems; communicate project progress, issues and financial status to leadership as required.
  • Provide periodic project status updates, and monthly revenue, cost and gross margin forecasts.
  • Manage risk, establish project recovery plans and resolve disputes to minimize escalation.
  • Ensure project document controls and deliverables comply with contract requirements and Johnson Controls standards.
  • Manage selection, ordering and delivery schedule of materials for projects.
  • Coordinate customer‑training requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience managing technical teams supporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC or other technical building trades.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong experience with project scheduling and coordination for labor and materials.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical material to a non‑technical audience.
  • Strong personal computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic Windows environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Management experience with projects related to commercial or industrial HVAC mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers, air handlers, VAVs etc.) and related controls, BAS management, and/or utility metering systems.
  • Experience working with projects including large HVAC mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers etc.).
  • Estimating experience with MEP related projects.
  • Experience with quality control / quality assurance documentation.
  • Experience reading and interpreting government contracts and procurement standards.
  • Experience managing multiple trades and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in Project Management software and financial accounting systems;
    Microsoft Project preferred.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent work‑related experience.
