Guerry Lumber is seeking an Entry-Level Architectural Mill worker to assist in the production of custom mouldings, trim, and specialty architectural millwork products for residential and commercial projects throughout Coastal Georgia and South Carolina.
This position works alongside experienced craftsmen and provides an opportunity to learn the millwork trade while operating woodworking equipment, handling materials, and supporting daily production operations. Successful candidates are dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
Key Responsibilities- Sort, stack, count, and organize lumber and millwork materials.
- Assist in the production of custom wood mouldings and specialty millwork products.
- Operate woodworking machinery, including planers, jointers, straight-line rip saws, miter saws, and other shop equipment.
- Safely operate a sit-down forklift to move materials and finished products.
- Read production specifications and accurately measure materials.
- Inspect products for quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Bundle, package, and stage completed products for delivery or warehouse storage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Work efficiently as part of a team to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support millwork operations.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16 inch
. - Strong basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, and measurements.
- Ability to identify and count lumber accurately.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials throughout the workday.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to report to our shop in Pooler, Georgia on time each day.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Previous woodworking, carpentry, millwork, cabinet shop, or construction experience.
- Experience operating woodworking machinery and hand tools.
- Forklift experience or certification.
- Familiarity with common wood species and lumber grades.
- Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
