We are opening a brand new store at Tanger Outlets in Pooler, Georgia, mid-September. We will hire multiple positions for this team and begin interviews mid-August.
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager positions primarily fulfill the mission: “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” They perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning). They work with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership.
The AIT position is a progression to the Assistant Manager role, with higher-level duties that are specific to that position; most duties are shared between roles.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service
- Answer questions regarding store and merchandise
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs
- Anticipate guest needs and suggest additional items to create a wardrobe experience
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share education with the team
- Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices
- Contribute to sales presentations and standards
- Achieve personal sales per hour, average sale, and total net sales goals as defined by Store Management
- Provide legendary service across the store areas: sales floor, fitting rooms, and register
- Know exchange and return procedures and present opportunities for showmanship
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to meet goals
- Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty programs
- Investigate and expand guest selection through inventory tools and apps
- Build and maintain guest relationships for a client-based business
- Lead by example with showmanship and customer service
- Communicate guest levels to the team
- Ask business-driven questions to managers and teammates
- Be coachable and respond to feedback to improve sales presentations
- Perform leadership actions consistently, even when the manager is not present
- Plan sales goals with Store Manager
- Own store sales performance in collaboration with leadership
- Show passion for product education and showmanship
Team Recruiting, Training and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using referrals and internal resources
- Coach and build relationships through loyalty programs
- Develop and educate new teammates to meet Buckle standards daily
- Maintain a positive floor culture
- Model professional dress and presence
- Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking
- Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks
- Demonstrate denim showmanship and fit card concepts with teammates and guests
- Develop results in your department and coordinate with leadership
- Execute departmental actions and review weekly
- Engage guests with product knowledge
- Communicate with leadership and teammates effectively
- Remember guest names and build rapport
- Understand and present merchandise for both genders to benefit team and guests
- Collaborate with Store Manager on education focus and weekly execution
- Assist in recruiting store staff and explaining pay and benefits
- Maintain up-to-date contact lists and attract top talent
- Lead training using leadership playbooks and maintain accountability
- Identify training needs and coach accordingly
- Own and assign zones for product focus and employee development
- Implement new tools and videos for zone ownership
- Collaborate to cover all zones and ensure visual standards
