Horner & Shifrin is seeking a full-time Project Engineer to work with our Transportation business unit. The position requires 5+ years of experience. This position is responsible for assisting & leading project teams, developing engineering solutions, and delivering a thorough and comprehensive end product.
Position Responsibilities/Duties- Resolve engineering problems and tasks as they are assigned, with help as needed from more experienced staff
- Perform transportation engineering analyses and calculations
- Prepare and write engineering and other reports
- Work as part of a team to complete general transportation engineering services for municipal, county, and state agencies
- Assist in the preparation of reports and feasibility studies
- Develop engineering plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred)
- Ability to lead, manage and schedule staff to meet project needs
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience working with the Illinois Department of Transportation and local municipalities (preferred)
- Use of Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficient in the use of Micro Station with Open Roads Designer /Geopak or AutoCAD with Civil 3D
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must complete a background check
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Salary RangeHorner & Shifrin, Inc. offers a comprehensive total rewards package and is committed to fair, competitive, market-based compensation. The target salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
