Job Description
Responsibilities
PBRMC Hospital is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Trash Technician to support a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for the collection, transportation, and proper disposal of trash and hazardous waste throughout the facility.
Compensation & Benefits
- $15.00 per hour
- Full-time (40 hours per week)
- Consistent 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM shift
- Alternating weekend schedule
Work Environment
- Hospital setting with exposure to healthcare environments.
- Requires adherence to PPE and infection control procedures.
- Fast-paced environment requiring physical stamina.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and remove trash and hazardous waste from patient rooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
- Transport waste to designated disposal and compactor areas.
- Replace trash liners and maintain the cleanliness of waste containers.
- Operate trash carts and compactors safely and efficiently.
- Follow hospital safety, infection control, and waste management policies.
- Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist Environmental Services team members as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment
- Must practice good personal hygiene, be neatly groomed, and be in uniform
- Preferred:
Housekeeping experience (cleaning, environmental services, custodian, janitorial, room attendant, floor care technician, hotel operations, healthcare)
- Standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching continuously throughout a shift
- Pushing and pulling carts or equipment (over 100 lb.) on tile and carpeted floors continuously throughout a shift
- Must handle chemicals including bleach, wax, and disinfectants
- Must be able to operate equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job
