Southeast Missouri Residential Services (SEMORS) is a Missouri Department of Mental Health facility with residential locations in Sikeston and Poplar Bluff. This position will be domiciled at and support our Poplar Bluff facility’s campus crisis stabilization program.

The regular work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday off. Occasional coverage on other shifts and rotating after‑hours on‑call may be necessary at times to meet the overall needs of the facility, along with infrequent travel to attend off‑site meetings and trainings.

This is an advanced supervisory Registered Nurse position accountable for directing the nursing services of our short‑term residential crisis stabilization program, which supports adults living with developmental disabilities and/or a variety of mental health challenges before transitioning back into the community for their least restrictive environment. The incumbent will plan and schedule the delivery of nursing services to individuals, with a focus on comprehensive, quality care in an inter‑disciplinary team approach setting.

This includes direct involvement in the development and implementation of infection control, health facility surveying, and direct support staff training, including Level One Med Aide certification and insulin administration delegation.

  • Position is accountable for professional program planning and management. Participates in individual habilitation treatment plan meetings, medical appointments, and provides necessary nursing assessments for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Oversees the day‑to‑day operations of the Poplar Bluff crisis program nursing department and may provide direct supervision to other nursing team members.
  • Prepare and conduct various nursing assessments, write/participate in the development of medical rights restrictions as needed, and develop nursing diagnoses.
  • Communicate with Director of Nursing, clinicians, inter‑disciplinary team, and external stakeholders effectively to ensure quality care of the individuals supported.
  • Ability to administer detailed therapeutic prescriptions and nursing interventions.
  • Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri or in accordance with Missouri's Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Knowledge of current nursing theory, practices, and techniques. Skill in applying practical nursing principles in the care of persons with physical or mental illness, developmental or intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities and/or the geriatric population.
  • At least 2‑4 years of experience working as a registered nurse.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of position, including frequent standing and walking, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform advanced safety care techniques after certification through facility trainers.
