Nursing Officer Of The Day (Nod) Registered Nurse
The Nursing Officer Of The Day (NOD) Registered Nurse provides leadership and expert oversight for complex patient care operations. The NOD coordinates and monitors care delivery to ensure continuity, access, and effective discharge planning. Serving as the facility's nursing authority at all times, the NOD supports and facilitates emergency medical response and identifies emerging clinical issues and environmental concerns across all patient care areas.
The NOD applies clinical judgment to engage staff in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes, and provides guidance grounded in professional standards and evidence-based practice.
During weekends, holidays, and after-hours, the NOD holds full responsibility for directing staff, managing unit operations, and allocating resources in the absence of nursing leadership. The NOD conducts facility rounds, serves as a consultant to providers, and collaborates with the Administrative Officer Of The Day (AOD) and interdisciplinary team members on patient care decisions and emergency responses. Additionally, the NOD provides outcome data and recommendations to nursing leadership to support improvements in organizational processes and patient care delivery.
