Essential Functions
- Operate Heavy Machinery:
Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and loaders. - Site Preparation:
Prepare construction sites by grading and leveling earth, moving materials, and digging trenches. - Maintenance and Inspection:
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team. - Adhere to Safety Standards:
Follow all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe work environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. - Collaborate with Team:
Work closely with construction crews, supervisors, and other operators to coordinate tasks and achieve project objectives. - Read and Interpret Plans:
Understand and follow project plans, blueprints, and specifications to accurately complete tasks. - Material Handling:
Load, unload, and move materials as required for various construction activities. - Troubleshooting:
Identify and address minor issues with equipment and work with the maintenance team for major repairs.
- Experience:
Proven experience operating heavy machinery in construction or related fields. - Skills:
Proficient in operating and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment. Strong understanding of safety procedures and construction practices. - Communication:
Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members and supervisors. - Problem‑Solving:
Strong troubleshooting skills to address equipment issues and operational challenges.
- Experience with specialized equipment (e.g., bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and loaders).
- Knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance related to construction operations within MoDOT and ARDOT.
- Must successfully complete MoDOT Flagger Training Course and OSHA 10.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently.
- Ability to bend, sit, stoop, and stand for long periods of time in the outdoor weather.
- Ability to be exposed to concrete dust, curing compounds, and form oil daily.
- Ability to work in field environments with exposure to dust, inclement weather conditions, extreme heat, cold, noise, vibrations and a variety of petroleum products.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work comfortably and safely at heights on all types of structures.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
