Bus Aide

Job Goal:
To assist in providing safe transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's program for students.

Qualifications:

• Adhere to all local, state and federal regulations.
• Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
• The aides time schedule will be assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining good conduct on the bus.
• Assumes the responsibility of seeing that children remain in their seats.
• Assures that students get on and off the bus in a safe, orderly fashion.
• Provides mild supervision over the children who misbehave, reporting serious offenses to bus drive or the child's teacher.
• Collects and turns over to the school staff those personal items left on the bus by students.
• Any other duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.
• Must be physically able to assist or remove students from the bus in case of emergency.

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
• Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
• Must be able to physical assist or remove students from the bus in case of an emergency.
• The employee must lift up to 40lbs. and or push/pull up to 100 lbs. such as student equipment and wheelchairs.
• Any other duties assigned by the administrator.
