Qualifications & Credentials:

• Successful completion of the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) exam
• Current credentials/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Experience interpreting within educational settings, preferably K-12
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
• Ability to adapt interpretation to student age, subject matter, and individual needs
• Professionalism, discretion, and a collaborative mindset

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students on your caseload, ensuring effective communication between students, educators, and peers
• Collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to address student learning goals
• Support student participation in classroom activities, assemblies, and school events
• Assist with IEP meetings or other planning sessions as needed
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and educational plans
• Monitor student understanding and advocate for required accommodations
