Special Education 1:1 Para educator
The Special Education 1:1 Para educator provides individualized support to a student with special education needs as determined through the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and educational team. Working under the direction of certificated staff, the para educator supports the student's access to instruction, participation in school activities, social-emotional and behavioral development, safety, and increasing independence across educational settings. This position is assigned to support the needs of a specific student.
The nature and level of support may change based on the student's IEP, educational needs, progress, placement, or other determinations made by the student's IEP team. This position may include recess/lunch supervision.
2) Special Education Base Para educator
The R2 Special Education Base Para educator provides instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, personal, and supervisory support to students with significant and/or complex special education needs. Working under the direction of certificated staff, the para educator assists students in accessing instruction, participating meaningfully in the school environment, developing independence and functional skills, and making progress toward goals identified through their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The R2 Base Para educator is assigned to the R2 special education program and may support multiple students throughout the school day.
Students served within the R2 program may require a higher level or intensity of adult assistance to access learning and participate safely and successfully in school activities. This position may include recess/lunch supervision.
