About the Role
As the first point of contact for most clients, the Teller plays a key role in delivering on the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. With guidance from the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager, the primary responsibility is to ensure banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations.
Responsibilities- Ensure all teller transactions and cash handling functions are performed accurately and confidentially (e.g., deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, balancing cash drawer).
- Perform daily branch tasks that maintain branch integrity (e.g., double custody for ATM, processing night‑drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing credit card machine, updating lobby rate sheets and brochures).
- Mitigate risk by safeguarding cash in the drawer and ensuring prompt accounting or transfer of funds.
- Maintain and enhance client relationships through meaningful conversations, uncovering client needs, and identifying opportunities to provide additional bank products and services.
- Interact with external and internal clients, anticipate needs, and provide proactive solutions and problem resolutions in alignment with the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards.
- Continuously deepen knowledge of Columbia Bank's product and service offerings and stay current on changes.
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- 1 year of previous banking or customer service experience (preferred).
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to learn and comply with all Bank policies, procedures, and systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with numbers, words, and instructions.
- Willingness to build relationships with clients and bank associates.
$18.00 – $22.00 per hour, depending on skill set, experience, and location. Eligibility for performance‑based incentive compensation.
