The New Graduate Resident RN will participate in a 6‑month New Graduate Residency program that focuses on the transition from academia to practice as a Registered Nurse. The Resident will rotate through all units in the hospital, including Home Health and Olympic Medical Physicians clinics. They will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care of patients within the facility, promoting continuity of care across various units.
The Resident will provide direct patient care as well as supervise the care given by Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Patient Care Aides and other support staff. They will demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflecting the patient’s status. The Resident will interpret appropriate information to identify each patient’s requirements concerning their age‑specific needs, provide the care required as described in departmental/unit policies and procedures, participate in patient and family teaching, maintain standards for professional nursing practice, and support a positive image of professional nursing and OMC.
The Resident will contact patients under a variety of circumstances and be subject to varying and unpredictable situations, performing emergency care and handling emergency or crisis situations, and may work irregular hours.
- Associate’s degree required.
- BSN preferred.
- Two years’ experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Current Washington State RN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire required.
