Position: Student Intern [Temporary Summer Opening]

Student Intern

Bob Hope School is seeking a part time student intern to assist with educational department role(s). The work hours will be up to 35 hours per week. Job duties subject to change.

Assist educational department(s) by providing assistance with completing department duties assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Must be a Bob Hope School Alumni student in college.

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students
  • Ability to work with BHS Staff/Employees/Administrators/Directors/Supervisors
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
  • Possesses excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Able to remain flexible and adapt to changing demands.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment.
  • High ethical standards and impeccable personal integrity are required.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic and diverse school setting.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Self-motivated.

Language

Skills:

  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual (preferred, but not required)

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist Campus Director and central office administrative staff with clerical duties as assigned.
  • Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of tasks for the administration, faculty, students, and parents of the school.
  • Perform secretarial and clerical tasks of a varied nature. Many tasks will require a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of the school, school's system, and the frequent exercise of independent judgment within the scope of the authority granted by the Campus Director.
  • Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  • Work with staff in other offices to complete large or time-sensitive projects or emergencies.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Meet with students on a one-to-one, small-group, drop-in, or classroom tutoring format(s) to give learning assistance
  • Works cooperatively with classroom teacher to supply intervention to selected individuals and small groups of children using adopted intervention programs.
  • Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Performs related duties as assigned in accordance with district policies and practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Equipment Used:
    Standard office equipment including personal computers and peripherals including specialized equipment that is particularly unique to the assignment.

    Mental Demands:
    Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; maintain emotional control under stress.

    Bob Hope School is a growing open-enrollment public charter school (non-profit) providing parents a choice in their child's education. Bob Hope Elementary is a Montessori / Dual-Language campus. Instruction is conducted in a two-way immersion program, where teachers fluent in English teach ELA and those fluent in Spanish teach SLA and are supported by teacher aides with a strong command of both languages.

    Campuses are located in Port Arthur, Beaumont, and Baytown, Texas. The Hughen Center, Inc. is the charter holder of Bob Hope School.
